A Day to Remember in Istanbul – Trams, Timeless Streets & a Traditional Hammam
Morning: Riding the Tram from Sultanahmet
We begin in the heart of old Istanbul — Sultanahmet — hopping onto the local tram just like Istanbulites do every day.
No private bus today… today we blend in.
As the tram glides forward, the city slowly unfolds. To our right, the waters shimmer — this is the legendary Golden Horn, the natural harbour that shaped Byzantine and Ottoman history. It separates the historic peninsula from the northern districts and has welcomed traders, empires and explorers for centuries.
In the distance, standing proudly above the skyline, we spot the iconic Galata Tower watching over the city — a reminder that Istanbul is layered with stories.
Crossing toward the old neighbourhoods feels like stepping back in time.

Balat & Fener – Where Colour Meets History
Welcome to Balat and Fener — the artsy, soulful quarters that steal every heart.
Once home to Greek Orthodox, Jewish and Armenian communities, these neighbourhoods are rich in multicultural heritage. In Fener stands the beautiful Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, the spiritual centre of the Eastern Orthodox Church — quiet, powerful and deeply historic.
And then… the colours.
Rows of pastel Ottoman houses lean into narrow cobbled streets. Rainbow staircases become instant photo stops. Bougainvillea drapes over balconies. Every corner feels like a movie set.
We wander slowly:
- Vintage shops filled with treasures and old vinyl records
- Antique stores with Ottoman mirrors and brass pieces
- Handmade jewellery boutiques
- Art studios and little bookstores
- Hidden cafés with mismatched chairs and Turkish coffee served in delicate cups
The ladies are in their element — laughing, photographing, discovering.
Of course, we stop for lunch at one of Balat’s charming local restaurants — fresh mezze, warm bread, grilled vegetables, perhaps a pide or gözleme. Long tables, shared plates, stories flowing.
This is what travel sisterhood is made of.

Afternoon: A Traditional Turkish Hammam Experience
After a day of exploring, we return — ready for one of Türkiye’s most treasured rituals.
The Hammam.
We step into warmth and marble. The ritual begins gently in the sauna, then the steam room — allowing the body to soften and fully relax. On the heated marble slab, the traditional kese (salt scrub) exfoliates away tired skin, followed by the most luxurious soap bubble bath — clouds of foam and total relaxation.
It’s not just a spa treatment. It’s centuries of Ottoman culture, self-care and cleansing wrapped into one unforgettable experience.
We leave glowing. Relaxed. Refreshed. Connected.
A Day to Remember
From tram rides across the Golden Horn, to the colourful charm of Balat and Fener, to the deep relaxation of a traditional hammam — this was one of those days where culture, connection and joy blended perfectly.
These are the days that make our Face 2 Face Ladies Türkiye Tours so special.
