There are places in India that steal your heart quietly… and then there is Udaipur — romantic, regal and reflective — a city that glows golden at sunset and shimmers silver across its lakes at dawn.
Often called the City of Lakes, and sometimes lovingly referred to as the Golden City of Rajasthan, Udaipur is also known as India’s wedding capital. With palaces rising from the water and fairy lights dancing across courtyards at night, it is no surprise that couples from around the world choose this magical city to begin their forever.
And for us?
It is always one of the most treasured highlights of our Face 2 Face ladies tour.
The Majesty of the City Palace Udaipur
If ever there was a palace that takes your breath away, it is the City Palace of Udaipur.
Standing proudly above Lake Pichola, it is one of India’s most beautiful palace complexes — a magnificent blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, intricate mirror work, delicate balconies, marble courtyards and panoramic views that make you pause in awe.
Walking through its corridors feels like stepping into another era.
The ladies often go quiet here — not because they have nothing to say — but because beauty like this speaks for itself.
Bollywood Romance & Royal Weddings
Udaipur has long been a favourite backdrop for Bollywood films and grand destination weddings.
Iconic locations like the floating Taj Lake Palace and the romantic Jag Mandir create scenes that look like they belong in a movie — because often, they do.
When the palaces light up at night and reflect in the still waters of the lake, you truly understand why Udaipur is known as one of India’s most romantic cities.

Our Heart of Udaipur – Cooking with Sushma & Family
But beyond the grandeur, our real magic in Udaipur happens inside a warm family home.
We stay in a beautiful homestay, where Sushma welcomes us not as guests, but as sisters.
Aprons on.
Spices laid out.
Laughter already filling the kitchen.
This is where India becomes personal.
Together we learn to cook authentic Rajasthani dishes, hands in the dough, spices roasting in pans, stories being shared across cultures.
There is something deeply special about cooking in someone’s home — it connects us to the heart of India in a way no hotel ever could.
And then… the evenings begin.
Krishna — the incredibly talented son — sits at the piano. Sometimes he plays his own compositions. Sometimes the first notes of Mamma Mia float into the room…
And suddenly my ladies are singing at the top of their lungs, laughing, clapping, harmonising — turning a simple evening into a memory that will last forever.
These are not tour moments.
These are sisterhood moments.
Coffee, Jewellery & Beautiful Finds
Udaipur is also a dream for those who love to wander.
Hidden cafés overlooking the lake where we sip cappuccinos and journal…
Jewellery stores filled with delicate silver pieces and colourful gemstones…
Clothing boutiques with flowing fabrics, hand-block prints and embroidered treasures that whisper “take me home.”
It is a city made for strolling, discovering, photographing — and occasionally shopping just a little more than planned.
Why Udaipur Always Stays With Us
Udaipur offers grandeur and intimacy in equal measure.
It gives us:
- Royal palaces and golden lake sunsets
- Bollywood romance and wedding glamour
- Authentic family hospitality
- Music-filled evenings and shared laughter
- Coffee dates and colourful markets
On every Face 2 Face tour, Udaipur becomes more than a destination — it becomes a feeling.
And when we leave, there is always that quiet moment on the bus where someone sighs and says:
“I could have stayed longer.”

Udaipur has captured my heart. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit twice already, and each time I leave wishing I could stay longer. Without a doubt, it is my favourite city in Rajasthan. The beauty of the city, with its lakes, palaces, and relaxed atmosphere, makes it feel truly special.
What makes the experience even more unforgettable is the homestay. The family welcomes you so warmly that you immediately feel like part of their household rather than just a guest. Their beautiful home adds to the magic of the stay, creating a peaceful and authentic environment.
The experiences offered there are extraordinary. The cooking class, the music, and the art were absolute highlights and completely blew me away. They gave such a meaningful glimpse into the richness of local culture.
Nadine also deserves special mention. She goes out of her way to create a genuine sense of sisterhood among the women on the tour. Through her thoughtful guidance and care, she transforms the experience from simply visiting a destination into something deeper—helping us become travelers rather than just tourists.
Udaipur is a place I will gladly return to again and again.
